The poet is actually talking about taking a break from our hectic lifestyle and spend some moments in complete silence so that we can introspect ourselves. He says that we are moving very fast and our only concern is about keeping our lives moving. So, if we indulge in understanding ourselves by investing a little amount of time in absolute silence we may realize the cause of sadness and dullness in our lives.

Ans. People are always chasing after worldy possesion. They hanker after material properties so much that they have ceased to take a moment of silence and try to understand themselves properly. This "sadness" of not understanding oneself is referred in the poem by the poet.
